CNC Tapping – For Speed and Accuracy
In the fall of 2008, we purchased our first Brother CNC Tapping Center. Our senior programmer Gene Sibley, was so impressed by this machines capability, the company added three more Brothers to our machining department. He said, “We have realized an over-all 25 to 40% gain in efficiency on small parts that were previously run in the larger machines.” This is primarily due to the difference in tool change times, positioning, and the speed at which we can now tap holes.
These tapping centers are real workhorses. Their speed is incredible and they do not require a lot of room. We were able to incorporate three set-ups into one of our high volume parts, that saved set-up and parts handling time, creating savings on this part.
